Ensenada has been known for sport fishing for over fifty years. Each
year hundreds of anglers head for Ensenada to go fishing and take
advantage of the shorter distances needed to travel by sea to get to
the big catch. The short range day trips are good for cranking in Bass,
Bonita, Barracuda, Cod and Yellowtail, while the long range trips pull
in Tuna, Albacore, Dorado.

Coast. Known as the best golf resort in the northwest of Mexico with

Valle de Guadalupe An hour south of Puerto Nuevo, the
wine country starts in San Antonio de las Minas and extends along
Highway 3 for about 14 miles. Widely regarded as the best in Mexico.
It is said that the first vitis vinifera (wine yielding grape vines)
made it to the Baja Peninsula in 1703, when Jesuit Padre Juan de Ugarte
planted the first vineyards there. There are roughly twenty wineries

Attention Surf Dudettes and Dudes
Below are some hints on surfing this popular surfing destination.
Starting on the toll road, just south of the Real Del Mar overpass, you will see and the first surf spot exit at Baja Malibu. From there on south it just gets better.
Baja Malibu Powerful,
hollow beach break. Takes any swell direction, peakier on combo swells,
good on any tide. Best size 3-8 ft, tends to close out if larger.
Popular tow in spot when big. Not for novices.
Rosarito pier and beach breaks Best on combo swells, 3-6ft. Medium tide is the best.
Popotla Left
reef/point break into bay. Best on W or NW swell. Can hold up to 10-15
ft, needs to be 6 ft before it really breaks. Peak in front of jagged
rock point, can be dicey at smaller size. Cold water Padang Padang. Calafia Large classic point, can be all time on large south swells. Rickey's At
base of Calafia point, right reef break. Works from 3-6 feet. Good
little zipper of a wave. Medium tide to high tide best. Shallow, rocks,
closes out over 6 feet.
Teresa's K37
Cobblestone rock reef rivermouth. Right hander, can be 200 yd wave when
good. Best on west or northwest swell. All tides ok, but major rock
dance at low tide. Gets really good and can hold up to 10-12 feet.
K38 Classic
point break, best on south and west swell, low to medium tide. Can hold
a large swell 10-15 foot, with 300 yard rides all the way into the
cove. Long paddle access from campo south of Teresa's, open ocean
conditions, can be dicey if large swell. Best at 4-6 ft +. Best wave in
the area.
Los Alisitos is popular for
its fairly reliable waves. Breaks from 1' to 6'+. You can generally
expect decent water quality. Also has a nice stretch of beach any time
of year where you can usually find an uncrowded peak. Long paddle in
large surf. Surf frequency is very consistent (150 day/year) and the
site has modern shower and toilet facilities. Surfing equipment is
available at the nearby Surf Shop for those who come unprepared.
Salsipuedes Bay Reef, point
break combo. Takes all swells. Triangular reef out front breaks right
and left, holds up to 8-10 ft. Good on any tide. When larger, over 10
ft, swell wraps large right point and rifles down the point similar to
Kirra point in Austrailia. Can be incredible. Several kilometers south
of Mirador lookout.
San Miguel At end
of toll road at north side of Ensenada. Classic right point,
cobblestone rock bottom. 3 ft + and can hold large swell. Really good
wave, can get crowded due to high visability and easy access. Have
